From Tuesday 1st July the northbound carriageway of the new A419 Blunsdon Bypass will open.
On Monday 30 June John and Carrie Clifford, owners of Blunsdon House Hotel, were the first to use the new road. For the privilege they donated £250 to Cancer Research. "We’ve been waiting over 20 years for the new road to open; its a fantastic improvement for so many people," said John.
From Tuesday Stagecoach Route 51 will not be able to serve the northbound bus stop on the A419 in Blunsdon, as the bus will be using the new bypass.
However, buses travelling into Swindon (southbound) will continue to serve stops in Blunsdon until October this year.
Passengers wishing to travel from Swindon to Blunsdon are advised to catch Thamesdown Transport’s Route 24 from the town centre to St Andrew's Ridge to Blunsdon village.
Service 24 will run every half hour to Blunsdon, with the last bus leaving Fleming Way at 1805.
