Strictly Swindon is just over a week away and word of Swindon’s dancing escapades has travelled far and wide.
Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Russell Grant is due to take to the Wyvern Theatre stage later this year with Ready Steady Cook Live! bringing his inimitable style and energy to the Swindon stage, on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 November, as host of this delicious show.
Russell has also enjoyed huge success in the West End and on tour, starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End production of The Wizard of Oz, Teen Angel in Grease and in Midnight Tango with his Strictly dance partner Flavia Cacace.
Upon hearing that the Wyvern Theatre’s marketing manager was to be dancing for Swindon Dance in Strictly Swindon, Russell offered the following advice: "Dance is joy – like Flavia and I, choose the right music: music you can feel deep in your heart and soul which will help the steps come to you as if by magic. Choose a dance you’ve got the rhythm for, avoid Latin if you’ve stiff hips and go for ballroom instead – and finally keep dancing, and PS, avoid cannons at all costs! Best of luck Richard!"
The Wyvern Theatre’s Marketing Manager, Richard Loftus has been rehearsing for Strictly Swindon for the last two weeks alongside MP for South Swindon, Robert Buckland; Ian Baker bpm active, fitness expert; Martin Frith, director of Frith Rugs; Phil Smith, Schools PE Sports Specialist and Swindon Advertiser journalist Scott D’Arcy.
Strictly Swindon will be performed at Swindon Dance on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 July featuring performances from Swindon Dance’s Adult Community Dance Programme. Performances include Jazz and Tap groups, Salto! plus the celebrity Charleston. For tickets call the Box Office on 01793 601700.
