Extra recycling boxes will be available for collection again starting from Friday, 14 February.
People who need an additional recycle box due to collections now being fortnightly can pick one up, subject to availability, at the following collection points during normal venue opening hours: North Swindon Library, West Swindon Library, Croft Leisure Centre, Dorcan Leisure Complex and Highworth Rec.
Boxes will also be available at Pinetrees Community Centre at the following times: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 3pm until 8pm, Friday midday until 4pm, Saturday and Suday 9am until midday.
More than 3,500 boxes have already been issued to residents in anticipation of the service change, which took effect from the start of last week. It means residents are asked to put out their recycling on the next day they are due a wheelie bin or blue bag collection for general waste. Plastics in clear bags should also be put out on this day.
There are various ways people can make the most of space in their current recycle boxes, including squashing tins and cans, breaking down any cardboard boxes, stacking bottles neatly and putting shredded paper into a large envelope or cereal box.
Demand has been high for additional boxes, so when stock ran out extra supplies were ordered to meet this. It is anticipated demand will remain high and although supplies at venues will be replenished wherever possible, residents may also wish to contact the venue beforehand to check on availability. Residents are asked to only pick up a box if they have insufficient capacity in their current boxes.

Cllr Richard Hurley, Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Housing and StreetSmart, said: “I am pleased that extra recycle boxes are available again and appreciate that some residents need one now collections have gone fortnightly. I’m really grateful for everyone’s patience, whilst boxes were out of stock, and their continued commitment to recycle as much as possible. Thanks again for your understanding and co-operation.”
