Friday 31 January. All day fundraiser at Specsavers, Regent Street, Swindon in aid of Alzheimer’s Care.
Organiser Debbie Fairfoull, Optical Assistant at Specsavers, writes: There are 800,000 people with Alzheimer’s in the UK, with numbers set to rise to one million by 2021.
Alzheimer’s normally affects the older generation but in some cases it can affect people aged 50 years and younger.
It is a degeneration of the brain cells leading to a perfectly healthy person reverting back to a childlike existence.
They eventually lose the ability to speak, clothe, wash, feed and recognise friends and loved ones.
This is dear to my heart as my mother died in 2009 after 10 years of suffering.
On Friday 31 January, there will be sealed bids for a framed and signed Scouting for Girls Greatest Hits Tour poster, a framed drawings of Peter Andre and much more.
If you would like to donate any items or if you have any unwanted/broken jewellery please bring it along on the day or contact me on 07776 034964. I will also be happy to collect if required.
