Over a thousand people visited Swindon’s revamped Wyvern Theatre on 22 and 23 September.
Visitors of all ages were able to see the new-look foyer and auditorium and look behind the scenes and take part in competitions to win tickets to forthcoming shows.
Locally-based groups including Partners Theatre Company, Tanwood School of Performing Arts, Janice Thompson Performance Trust and SALOS put on excerpts from forthcoming shows and the Wyvern-based theatre company Swindon Youth ran workshops in the studio.
Wyvern marketing manager Jenny-Anne Dexter said, “It was a wonderful weekend, with over a thousand visitors all eager to see the improvements to the theatre. The feedback was all positive and our backstage tours were all booked out.”

Live performances began on Tuesday 25 September with dramatic drama The Business of Murder, starring soap opera heroes Todd Carty and Sally Ann Matthews.
Coming up include famous comic poet and racontereuss Pam Ayres (who is sold out), comedian Russell Howard and Roald Dahl’s Danny the Champion of the World which visits prior to a West End run.
Cinderella, starring Britt Ekland as the Fairy Godmother, will fly in from 7 December. A wicked stepmother (right), two very ugly sisters, a dashing prince and a pinch of magic makes this the most captivating and spectacular pantomime of all time.
