Sarah and Dave Chilvers are calling on people who want to see an end to the barbaric farming of moonbears for their bile in China and Vietnam to join them for a sponsored walk.
Annabella and Clarissa Wu are Sarah’s latest recruits, having arrived from Hong Kong in February. They attended an international school there and knew about the work of Animals Asia after a representative of the charity had visited.
“The pictures they showed were so shocking; many of us were crying,” said Annabella. “We signed up for a trip to visit the bear sanctuary in Sczhwan last year but it had to be cancelled because of the earthquake.”
Clarissa said she and Annabella were surprised to see Sarah organising a garage sale close to their home. “We want to help her raise awareness of Animals Asia so that moonbears can be saved.”
More help is always needed said Sarah. “I’m really pleased the girls introduced themselves; we’re always looking for volunteers for fundraising events like the sponsored walk in September.”
