Lydiard Park Academy class of 2013 has achieved record breaking results in their GCSE examinations.
The Principal, Clive Zimmerman, right, said: “Sixty per cent of students achieved five or more higher grade passes including English and mathematics, an increase of nearly 5% on the school’s previous best results. 77% achieved five or more A*-C from any subjects.
The results of our more able students were also a notable feature of this year’s grades with 14 students achieving eight or more top (A/A*) grades in their haul”.
He added: “Seven students also managed to achieve seven or more A* grades. All in all, a very satisfactory reward for the hard work of our students and their teachers”.
Mr Zimmerman went on to say: “We are thrilled, because the results have gone up significantly this year for the fourth year running”.
With national pass rates at higher level still being questioned in certain quarters, Mr Zimmerman said: “We weren’t expecting such an encouraging performance, given what has been in the media, but this year group have been fantastic and they have achieved the best grades.
“What is also really pleasing is in the news they said there was a drop in the number of A’s and A*, but our students achieved more than any of the previous year groups. They certainly turned their ‘potential into performance’.
