Thomas Plant is inviting Swindon residents to a free valuation event in the town on Saturday 11 January, and a talk about the antiques business in aid of Prospect.
An on-screen regular on the Antiques Road Trip, Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, Thomas also has a day job as a partner and auctioneer in Special Auction Services, based down the M4 in Newbury.
Throughout 2014, Thomas and his team are running a series of valuation events in Swindon at the Jury’s Inn, Fleming Way where people can get their portable antiques valued free of charge.
He has specialist expertise in valuing jewellery, militaria and toys while his colleagues are specialists in other types of collectibles.
“This is an opportunity for anyone to come along and find out more about that item in the cupboard, bottom drawer or attic. Come along, meet me and my team and find out more about your stuff!” Thomas said.
After the valuation morning which runs from 10am to 1pm, Thomas will be giving a separate talk, An Audience With Thomas Plant, where he’ll share his experiences of taking part in antiques series which regularly attract audiences of several million viewers.
The talk, which begins at 2pm, is a ticket-only event with tickets costing £5 each – the whole £5 will then be donated to the Prospect Hospice. Tickets can be booked by calling 01635 580595 or visiting www.specialauctionservices.com
Peter Rudge, area manager for Jury’s Inn, said: “We’re thrilled Thomas has chosen our hotel as the venue for his events and we’re supporting him in his efforts to raise cash for a well-loved local charity.”
