Ten teams of Business Studies students from Swindon College will pitch their stalls at Blunsdon Market on Wednesday in a bid to outsell each other and become young entrepreneurs for the day.
The event, championed by MP and former Swindon businessman Justin Tomlinson, has attracted business mentors from Smiths News, Barclays Bank and GWE, and will be raising money for local good cause Prospect Hospice.
Prospect have provided each team with £10 seed money. Whatever each team raise will be doubled by lead sponsors Barclays.
Commenting on the experience Justin said: “The students are going to be working in a real tough retail environment, which is a long way from classroom theory. They have to determine their product offering and make their stall appealing to customers.
“What’s great too is that the Market have agreed that the students can have the opportunity to come back in the future and perhaps run their own pop-up shops. Practical experience is an important piece on the career path towards young entrepreneurship, so this is good news for Swindon.”
Come along and support the students from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday 6 March.
