Football teams of all ages and backgrounds converged on Swindon's Link Centre, in early September, to take part in the 'Best of the West' tournament which after several hard fought games was won by a team from Swindon based fleet and fuel management giant Arval.
The event was made up of four groups of four teams with entrants ranging from local business teams to the local police and fire brigade.
Team Arval kicked off the tournament with a match against the police side, eventually running out 9-1 winners. This winning form continued throughout the tournament for the team from Windmill Hill as Arval reached the semi final against what many had considered to be the strongest team there, Fitness First.
The game was a tightly fought affair with Arval eventually going through to the final, winning 5-3 to meet the Link Centre team, eventually winning the final and subsequently the tournament 6-4.
Swindon Mayor Steve Wakefield was on hand to present the trophy to Arval team captain Jamie Holloway who was delighted at the result after a long and hard fought tournament.
