For anyone that has spent any time on a rowing machine in their local gym, they will know that it’s hard work. Incredibly, last week an employee at local vehicle leasing and fleet management company Arval pushed himself to the limit to raise money for Sport Relief by rowing the width of the Channel.
Rod Follit, a Relationship Executive within Arval’s small business division placed a Concept 2 rowing machine in the fitness room at the Arval Centre and rowed 34 kilometres (21 miles) which is the same distance as the English Channel.
Arval employees dropped in on the challenge to support Rod as well as sponsoring him which has generated hundreds of pounds for Sport Relief.
Rod commented before the challenge: “This is quite a daunting challenge but definitely one that I am motivated by and I know that Arval employees will dig deep to raise lots of cash for Sport Relief. I have been rowing for 2 years and really enjoy it so it’s a great way to combine a passion of mine with a great cause.”
Arval has some history with this kind of sporting challenge as last year employee Gary Mountjoy spent a full day on an exercise bike for Comic Relief.
