ASPECTS Exhibition 18 – 30 April 2011
The Post Modern, Theatre Square, Swindon SN1 1QN
Exhibition Opening Times: 11am – 6pm
After participating in group shows in Swindon, Nottingham and London, and a successful solo show in Bath, upcoming artist Sarah Checksfield has finally found an opportunity to bring her work back into the heart of Swindon. Since her first sight of Gillian Ayres’ Florestan, in the Swindon Collection, Sarah has been impassioned with a need to paint, to create something equally inspiring and The Post Modern provides the perfect venue to exhibit her most innovative use of canvas to date.
Her intuitive, childlike approach to artistic experimentation is only too apparent in this eclectic sample of her current portfolio. From the largest to the smallest, from the oldest to the newest, this show presents aspects from every step along the very twisty road so far travelled on her creative journey. Despite the varied styles of the work there are two constants weaving them together… all make use of Sarah’s favoured finger painting approach and all are an attempt to make the world a brighter, more smiley place. This is, after all, her raison d’etre, in art and in life, to help raise the happiness quotient in this often grey and sad world, with a splash of colour and a sprinkle of sparkle.
Sarah will be on hand, for the duration of the show, to share her enthusiasm, the stories behind the pictures and their equally quirky titles and to hear how others see her work.
