Qualified teachers and private tutors, David and Andrea Parkinson, pictured, are celebrating five years of successful operation of Aspire Tuition at Basepoint Business Centre in West Swindon.
Their professionally equipped tuition centre regularly has over 120 pupils aged 6 to 16 years attending each week.
Each pupil, whether at the early stages of their primary education, studying for GCSEs in Mathematics, English or Science, or preparing for 11+ entrance exams, receives a free expert assessment of their abilities before starting their tuition.
Experience, ability and resources
Once enrolled, students work on an individually tailored programme under the supervision of a fully qualified and experienced teacher. David said: “We pride ourselves on having the experience, ability and resources to respond precisely to our students’ needs rather than just routinely plugging them into computers or giving them endless and repetitive worksheets like some other tuition providers.”
Andrea is an experienced and operational Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) within a Wiltshire school and a former leading SENCO with Swindon Council. She has substantial experience in advising on and helping individual students with learning difficulties, including dyslexia.
David is the lead GCSE Maths and Science tutor and also specialises in assisting reluctant writers – whether primary or secondary – to achieve their potential.
Registered with Ofsted as child care provider
Aspire Tuition is registered with Ofsted on the Child Care Register as a child care provider. To obtain this status, stringent criteria have to be met covering insurance, CRB checks of staff, paediatric first-aid and premises safety so parents can be sure their child is safe.
Ofsted registration also means that tuition can be paid for by using Child Care Vouchers. With a standard weekly tuition fee of just £28, if you are on the 40 per cent income tax rate, you will only pay about £16 per week (in real terms) to have your child expertly and individually tutored for 80 minutes each week. This works out at a very affordable £12 per hour.
Significant savings are also available if you are on the 25 per cent income tax rate. Further reductions apply if a pupil attends more than once each week or if more than one pupil attends each week from one family.
