Free Autism Awareness Workshop hosted by members of the Rotary District 1100 eClub in association with Uplands School and Uplands Educational Trust
Saturday 16 March 2013, 9.30am-3pm at Uplands School, North Swindon
Workshops, discussions and guest speakers including Dave King, former editor of the Swindon Advertiser who will be talking about the Autism Alert Card
Living with autism can make your world very different. If others don’t understand the puzzle of autism, it can lead to very daunting experiences. This is a chance for all of us to find out what being affected by Autism feels like, considering how we need to adjust our own behaviours when engaging with people with Autism.
The workshop aims to help understanding and explore options to help bring about a more inclusive society.
Rotarian Lorna Breslin says: “It would be great if councillors and community leaders and workers could come along to the Autism Awareness Event, as it is about raising awareness, gaining an understanding, helping to break down barriers and in helping to make communities, businesses, places such as leisure facilities, shops, dentists, doctor’s surgeries, hairdressers, police stations etc, ‘Autism Friendly’ .
Please do come along so that you can help make a difference.
