The term ‘fighting fit’ is set to take on a whole new meaning when the exhilarating new martial arts-based workout programme, Les Mills Bodycombat™, hits Link Centre and the Haydon Centre in January.
Combining powerful moves from a range of self-defence disciplines, including Karate, boxing, Taekwondo and Muay Thai, Bodycombat is a non-contact workout that leaves participants feeling ready to conquer the world.
The class provides all the benefits of intense physical exercise –working the heart and lungs, and improving co-ordination, strength and agility. The dynamic kicking and punching moves are also great for reducing stress and boosting participants’ sense of well-being.
Each Bodycombat class is led by a fully-trained instructor, who takes participants through a series of pre-choreographed moves set to inspiring chart-topping music.
Darren Gunter, Swindon Council’s leisure services gym and fitness officer explained the appeal: “There’s something about the electric atmosphere of Bodycombat that motivates you to work harder and keep going longer than you ever thought possible. You somehow manage to forget the fact you’re exercising and instead just lose yourself in the music and moves.”
Bodycombat is available at:
Link Centre – Monday, 6pm; Wednesday, 9.30am; Thursday, 8pm.
Haydon Centre – Tuesday, 6pm; Saturday, 10am.
Classes can be enjoyed on a pay as you play basis or with all inclusive access under Swindon Council’s Leisure Passport scheme.
