Ben Waters is widely acknowledged as one of the most exciting piano players in Europe today and he's at Swindon Arts Centre on Friday 20 June, 8pm
Ben's live shows have been compared to Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Jimi Hendrix. Make no mistake about it, this is hard hitting music at its best. Influenced by some of the finest pianists in the world.
Ben initially bit the bait of Boogie Woogie and pianists like Albert Ammonns and Meade Lux Lewis, which sparked a desire to own a piano. His parents obliged (not knowing that he would be shaking the house). Then the New Orleans bug struck, and the second line beat of cats like Professor Longhair and Dr John glued him to the piano stool for hours on end. Then bang out of the blue Rock n' Roll Struck. Fats Domino's 60th birthday came on TV featuring Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis, this had a profound impact on Ben's life; he began playing gigs in pubs and clubs emulating his heroes. Since then Ben's name has become synonymous with excellent performance.
This is the man who barely in his early 20's has played with the likes of Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend, Shakin' Stevens and the late Florida blues harp legend Rock Bottom!
His raunchy vocals and exuberant style have earned him a superb reputation as one of the genres finest performers. Ben and his band are promoting their forthcoming album recorded at the studios of Jools Holland. For those who have not seen Ben live, his piano playing is a revelation.
