Lydiard Park Academy in Grange Park has sent congratulations to all of our students who received their GCSE results on 21 August.
Despite a reported dip in grades nationally, Lydiard Park Academy achieved its best ever results for the fifth year running. A record breaking 66 per cent of students achieved 5 or more A*- C’s including English and Maths. 504 A*/A grades were awarded to students.
Eighteen students achieved 8 or more A*/A grades. A good handful of these students achieved more than 12 A*/A grades. The top performing student was Rebecca Bissex who achieved 14 grades at A* and A.
The school points out that over a third of students achieved much better levels of progress than expected (based on KS2 entry level).
Academy headteacher Clive Zimmerman said: "We’re delighted that we’ve achieved record GCSE results for the fifth year in a row.
"Overall 66% of students achieved five higher GCSE grades including English and Maths (up 5% from last year’s previous best of 61%). Students and staff have worked incredibly hard to overcome the continual changes that were made to the examination regime whilst they were completing their courses and it’s a huge credit to all that results have moved so far forwards again despite this.
"A particular feature of this year’s results was the high numbers of A and A* grades (over 500 in total this year) and the eighteen students who achieved at least 8 A or A* grades in their results.
"It’s a fantastic year group with which to start our new sixth form from September. Work is almost complete on the facilities and many students were able to see their new common room when they picked up their results which added to the excitement."
