A charity gala screening of Quantum of Solace will give Bond fans the opportunity to be among the first in the UK to see Daniel Craig back in action.
Empire Cinema at Greenbridge is hosting a red carpet cocktail drinks reception followed by a preview of the film in aid of the NSPCC Swindon's 110 Challenge. The latest instalment in the 007 saga, starring Daniel Craig, picks up from where Casino Royale left off with Bond seeking revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd.
The screening takes place on Thursday 30 October, a day before the film goes on general release.
As well as 007, there is another number on the minds of members of the local NSPCC branch. The charity has been active in Swindon and Wiltshire for 110 years and, through their 110 Challenge, they are asking people to come up with fundraising ideas based around that figure. Suggestions include baking and selling 110 fairy cakes or selling 110 raffle tickets. Fundraiser, Linda Sawyer, asked for donations to complete a 110 foot line of coins at the West Swindon shopping centre which raised £143.
"We urgently need more people to come forward to support their local branch of the NSPCC, either by becoming a branch member, organising a fundraising event, by regular giving or by volunteering to work with children and families in one of our centres," said Sue Hooper, Chair of the Swindon and North Wilts branch.
