LOCAL boxer Ryan Martin is set for an immediate return to the ring following his victory at the Oasis on Saturday night as promoter Keith Mayo looks to “push on” the young welterweight star.
The 20-year-old switch-hitter will fight on the undercard to Bristol favourite Lee Haskins’ international bantamweight contest against Mexican Willy Valaquez.
Mayo is keen to keep his talented prospect busy and has already booked him in to fight in Bristol on Friday, December 5.
“It’s time to push on Ryan now,” said Mayo, who was extremely impressed with Martin’s fourth-round stoppage of Jamie Ingleby on Saturday. “Ryan was extremely impressive on Saturday night and I’m keen to keep him busy. On the back of that win he will box in Bristol on December 5.
“We think very highly of young Ryan and genuinely believe he will go on to win titles.
“He has only had two fights but he has quickly made the transition from amateur to professional.
“Saturday’s fight saw Ryan show his class and his power as he got a deserved stoppage.”
KM Promotions will be putting on a coach to Bristol for the fight, while tickets are priced at £35 and £60 for the show. For more details call Keith Mayo on 07789 890 453.
