Professional photographer Graham Light who has run Cirencester’s Abbey Studios in Cirencester since 1977 has published a beautiful book that captures the seasonal changes of Westonbirt Arboretum – and you can win a copy signed by the author.
In the foreword by the Patron to Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum charity, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall writes, “I am delighted that this book encourages a wider appreciation of the arboretum by focusing on the different seasons. Whether you prefer a gentle stroll, a guided walk, or just the chance to sit and ponder, the photographs of Graham Light will draw your eye to new wonders.”
The pictures celebrate the many textures, colours and shapes found amongst the 16,000 labelled specimens in the tree collection. The photographs taken in rain, shine and snow – from the ground and from the air – record the beauty of Westonbirt’s trees across the seasons.
Graham said, “the National Arboretum is a wonderful place to visit all year round. It is perhaps most famous for its autumnal colour, and this year the trees have been stunning, but over the three years of taking photographs for the book, I’ve become even more convinced of its beauty at any time. There is always something worth exploring and photographing.”
