Well known restaurateur Hanif Robbani is going the extra mile for charity by trekking to Everest base camp next March in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Hanif, who helps dozens of charities annually by holding twice weekly curry cashback evenings at Peatmoor’s Bombay Lounge, is taking on the challenge with Manjit Doll, from Absolutely Fit Performance coaching, and Alex Marshall, from Arval. Hanif explained, “Everest base camp is at 20,000 feet and we have to put in six months’ preparation. I’m in the gym 5 times a week, increasing stamina levels and building strength. Altitude sickness is a real worry as I’ve never been that high before and am not sure how I will deal with it.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity but we have a fundraising mountain to climb in aid of the British Heart Foundation.”
A series of fundraising events to raise the required £4,000 for BHF is being planned, including a dinner dance on Friday 19 November at Swindon’s Marriott Hotel. To help the team with fundraising, call Hanif on 887799 or sponsor them at http://www.justgiving.com/
