After her colourful painting of Buckingham Palace raised £1,500 for charity, artist Nicky Leigh is creating the same picture again at her studio in Aldbourne.
It was back in July that the artist saw her modern depiction of the front of the Palace raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
Now, one of two unsuccessful bidders who wanted the original artwork has commissioned her to recreate the picture just for him.
Nicky said: “It was so unexpected when this bidder contacted me, and a tribute to the work.
“He bid for the original picture but was outbid by someone else. In fact it was a battle between three bidders for my donated item.
“He has asked for one or two small details to be changed – so with the two pictures together it could almost be a case of ‘spot the difference’!”
She’s also working on another commission by a local man who loves his classic car and has asked her to capture it in her art. That picture should be complete by the end of 2012.
Nicky specialises in interpreting the architecture of buildings, streets or landscapes using colour.
Her national profile is on the up. She’s artist in residence for upmarket coffee chain Caffe Fratelli and is now a partner artist for online site www.thescootergeek.com.
