Two happy organisations in Swindon are having the make-over treatment from Swindon College Building Craft Occupation students.
The Level 1 students are set to redecorate ‘The Wick’ Sea Scout Hut, Hayden Wick and St. Andrews Church, Blunsdon.
The students visited the venues to formulate risk assessments and method statements, tooling requirements and to create programme of works.
‘The Wick’ will have the craft room, toilet, front double doors and sign maintained and re-decorated while students working at St. Andrews Church will recondition the front gates and have the spikes capped, maintain the porch gates and the internal door as well as the moveable partition for the kids area.
Gerald Kane, BCO lecturer said: “The project will take 10-12 sessions approximately to complete. It’s a great opportunity for the students to work in the community and gain valuable experience. Both organisations really appreciate our support. I attend regular Scout Hut meetings with Callum Leaks, project manager for the group, to establish when the work can take place.”
