Swindon CAB is experiencing record numbers of enquiries for advice and assistance and to ensure demand can be met, they are recruiting people to the Gateway Assessor programme.
Volunteers are needed who can assess and prioritise what assistance or information clients may need, by carrying out short, diagnostic interviews to establish the best next step option for them in their situation.
No particular qualifications or experience is required, volunteers come from all walks of life. The basic requirements are for people who are good at listening, are able to work in a team, are able to read and write English and do basic Maths. Being open minded and non-judgmental and enjoy helping people are key factors, as well as a commitment of a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Volunteers take part in a comprehensive training programme. A team of supervisors, experienced volunteers and the volunteer development and training supervisor will be on hand to support and assist.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 5 September with interviews on Monday 9 September and Tuesday 10 September.
