Civic Offices, Euclid Street, Swindon. Thursday 30 January, 11am to 12.30pm. Refreshments will be available
We really need your help writes Jane Dudley of the Community Safety Partnership.
As you know we have previously done Weeks of Action to tackle anti-social behaviour and environmental crime across Swindon and the surrounding villages. It has been some time now since they took place.
Although we are not going to resurrect the Weeks of Action we do feel we could use their success as a platform to improve or enhance on their achievements. This would also give us an opportunity to work with residents again
You may have heard about Operation Harness, which is a targeted police operation. We are looking to join forces with the police to help make them even more successful. The general aim of Operation Harness is the same as what we are suggesting which is to reduce crime and disorder in local neighbourhoods through targeted days of action.
We have had an initial meeting with various Swindon Borough Council Departments and agencies. So far we have had a commitment from the Police, Housing, Environmental Enforcement, Trading Standards, Streetsmart, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue, Environmental Services and of course the Community Safety Partnership.
This is where we need your help. The success of any proposed multi-agency operation to tackle neighbourhood issues and concerns relies on community participation and support. There has to be a call for action or a community trigger to start the process.
We have an idea of how Call for Action could look but ideally we want you to tell us how you think it will look. What would work for where you live? How do we get this off the ground? What do we need to do to ensure that residents feel they are involved in Call for Action and playing an active part in setting it up and getting it right?
We would really appreciate it if you could come and meet with us and share your thoughts and ideas, we do value your contribution. We are inviting people like yourself that care about where they live to come along to the Civic Offices on Thursday 30 January.
We really do hope you can spare some time to come and meet with us. If you can come along could you please let me know so I can make sure I get adequate refreshments.
