Three flying crew from RAF Lyneham took on the Hadrian Wall Challenge on 23 July, and exceeded their target to raise money for Swindon parent run charity Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Movement (CALM).
Ozzy Hicks, Al Meadows and Dan Wilkinson from 24 Squadron ran the wall in one go, 84 miles from end to end, on one of the hottest days of the year, and long into the night. They arrived sore and heavily blistered thirty minutes short of 24 hours
They hoped for £5,000 but raised £7,500. Flight Lieutenant Dan Wilkinson, who is flying in Afghanistan until mid-November, said, “if I’m honest I’m proud of what we did for CALM which we’re all very committed to.”
