Des Evans, CEO at MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd. hosted a tour by and discussions with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP, during his visit to several projects in Swindon on Friday 12 July.
Mr Osborne was on a two-day visit to some of the region’s most successful businesses. He was particularly keen to spend time at MAN following the conclusion of the delivery phase of the company’s Support Vehicle contract with the Ministry of Defence. 7,400 trucks have been supplied to British military forces.
After meeting Head of Military Sales, Bill Farrell, and with MAN staff at all levels of the business, the Chancellor also focused on MAN’s modern apprentice programme which is training 130 engineers in the town.
He was impressed with MAN’s ability to attract young people into the industry and noted the company’s large investment into developing their skills.
