The Co-op supermarket on Newport Street in Old Town, Swindon has re-opened after a £676,000 refurbishment.
The ribbon was cut by store manager Gordon Monahan with Krysia Sage the manager from Co-op Travel and Rob Woods the Pharmacist from Swindon Pharmacies – a new Pharmacy which has come into the store.
In store, there are a new range of chilled beers, lagers and wines, a new range of whole-foods and Gluten-free foods and a wide selection of Fairtrade products.
A new Coffee Shop has opened inside the store offering, freshly brewed coffees and teas, sandwiches, baguettes, Panini’s and cakes.
Staff now offer a new ‘carry to car’ service and the store has introduced a new carrier bag policy. This means plastic carrier bags will not be given to customers unless requested – this is the first Midcounties Co-op store to introduce this ‘greener’ policy.
Outside, car parking has been improved giving better access and with clearly marked pedestrian only areas.
Store manager, Gordon Monahan said, “We are very proud to be able to re-open with a much improved, modern and welcoming community store. I think local people will be delighted with what we have done here.
“In particular, the improved access and car parking is something that was requested by customers and you can now pick up your entire Pharmacy requirements, including prescriptions and enjoy a coffee and a light meal as part of your shopping trip.”
Store opening hours are – Monday to Saturday 7.30am to 9pm and 10am to 4pm each Sunday. Pharmacy opening hours are – Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm and 9am to 5pm each Saturday.
