The next ‘tea and chat’ at Savernake Street Social Hall will be held on Friday 20 September between 9-11am.
The get-togethers have been introduced to enable people who are retired or at a loose end to come and have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and a snack.
So far two teas have been held, both in the afternoons, but this time the organisers are trying a morning brunch.
The teas have been introduced by Eastcott Community Organisation as a way to bring people together.
Teresa Smith, one of the organisers, has been really pleased with the response so far and would love more people to come along. ‘We thought it would be really good to start tea and chat events as a way of enabling people to meet each other. We were really pleased that people came along, and shared ideas of what they would like to see at future events’.
‘We’d love more people to join us, just to pop along and see if it’s something that you’d like. It’s a really friendly group of people, and we are hoping to introduce some activities depending on people’s interests. We are happy to organise speakers and entertainment, it all depends on what our guests would like to do.’
Thanks to a grant from Swindon Borough Council, there is no charge for refreshments.
Savernake Street Social Hall is located on Savernake Street, off Eastcott Hill, Swindon SN1 3LZ
