Swindon 105.5 Community radio station has been awarded a £10,000 Heritage Lottery Fund grant to produce a series of programmes about Swindon’s historical buildings.
Explaining the project, station manager Shirley Ludford said: “We have a year to produce 20 programmes, each one about a different building. We’re going to be working with local groups and schools to train them how to put together their own programme.
“Drove School and Rodbourne History Group are already signed up. They will each choose and research a building and we will then help them create the programme.
“There’s a lot of synergy and goodwill between 105.5 and Swindon Heritage Magazine; it’s good to find creative ways to educate the next generation about local history.”
