Swindon?s brand new comic book shop Swin City was officially opened a ‘superhero team’of the Deputy Mayor of Swindon Councillor Michael Barnes, Cllr Roderick Bluh, Leader of Swindon Borough Council, Justin Tomlinson Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture & Recreation, Oliver O?Dell Swindon?s town centre manager, and Swin City?s manager Ben Fardon, pictured below.
Batman and Spiderman were on hand to entertain the crowds as they flocked in to see the wide range of comics, magazines, figures, toys and trade paperbacks on sale.
The crowds counted down Deputy Mayor Michael Barnes as he cut the ribbon. He then went on to welcome Swin City to Swindon. “Swindon needs more niche shops like Swin City and I wish owners Steve Causer and Vince Mancari and manager Ben Fardon lots of success for their new venture”.
Owners Steve Causer and Vince Mancari want to bring something new to Swindon and welcome customers to tell them what they want in the store.
“We hope to be busy but I was blown away with the amount of people that came through the door”, said Vince. “From the moment we opened it did not let up until we shut. The best bit thing was the range of people, young and old, and all as excited as we are about the store”.
“The opening went really well, and we are chuffed to have had the support from not only hundreds of customers, but also the Deputy Mayor and other Swindon officials, commented Steve. It shows we have the support of Swindon which is what we want, but also that we want to support the Swindon comic and toy fans”.
New released comics from the US arrive each Thursday morning so there is always something new to see in store. Swin City has its own membership that allows customers to put the comics they want on order so they will be able to receive them each week as they come in.
“We have lots of plans for the shop and details will be released as the months roll on. The one thing we can say now is that if you don?t see it on the shelves; just ask, as we are more than happy to source what ever we are able to. We can even supply tailor made costumes of all your favourite comic book and film characters”. Stated Ben.
Swin City is open from 10am ? 6pm Monday to Saturday with early opening from 8am on Tuesday to allow customers to pop in before work, and late opening on Thursdays until 8pm to allow customers time to come and pick up the new released comics.
