Thirty youngsters from Bradon Forest School are starting to raise funds for a life changing trip to India in April 2014.
They will visit two partner schools where they will stay in dormitories, as well as take in the sights of The Golden Temple at Amritsar, and Dharamshala, the home of the exiled Dalai Lama, in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Year 10 student Charlotte Butler said: “I love learning about different religions and cultures and I’m really looking forward to meeting people my age, to see if they talk about the same things we do and are interested in similar things.”
The nine day trip will cost £1,500 per pupil which they have to raise themselves. Charlotte and her friends Grace Bartlett and Eleasha Kell, pictured, have got a few ideas up their sleeves including a cashback curry night at the Bombay Lounge on 29 January.
“We did a pre-Christmas bag pack at Asda in North Swindon; we’ll be running raffles, tombolas, and cake sales during 2013 and have some surprises in mind,” said Charlotte
