Pupils at St Francis Primary School in Taw Hill are having great fun building dens, pirate ships, cafes and whatever else they are inspired to do with their new natural playground equipment from Hereford-based Copper Beech Garden Design.
Describing the equipment teacher Becky Fullarton said: “The kit comprises a number of fixed wooden structures, and loose poles and planks that the children can move about and configure their own project.
"It makes their play open-ended and fosters great teamwork and communication as they cooperate to construct whatever their imagination allows.
“We have a special soft play surface so we can just let them get on with it. The children absolutely love being creative. There are very few squabbles and, given they’re shifting long poles about, not many bumps or scrapes.
“The equipment provides great opportunities for free play outdoors, which is a key part of our ethos at St Francis.”
