A Christmas party at Priory Manor retirement apartments in Chastleton Road, Redhouse, raised more than £100 for the Swindon branch of Chernobyl Children Life Line (CCCL)
Coral McGrady from the charity, which arranges holidays in the UK for children suffering from the world’s worst nuclear disaster, sold Russian dolls and other gifts to the apartment owners and visitors while staff from developers Bovis Homes organised a raffle for the cause.
Mince pies and mulled wine were served at the morning event which also included a Christmas decoration demonstration by local florist David Martin.
Twelve children from Belarus arrived for a respite holiday on 16 December and will be enjoying Christmas with Swindon families, as well as visits to attractions around the town and medical check ups.
