Over one third [35%] of people from the South West hang onto things that remind them of a better time but are prompted to have a clear out after a break-up [22%], research by South West British Heart Foundation (BHF) Shops revealed today.
Other popular reasons for having a clear out included it being springtime and family coming to stay.
The top ten items that people from the South West admit to hanging on to are: old photo frames and photos, clothes that no longer fit, CD collection from youth, favourite teddy, unused gifts, last season’s clothes, children’s clothes that they’ve grown out of, wedding dress, lava lamp and the little black dress.
Spring clear out
With over three quarters [ 76%] of people from the South West agreeing that they would be most likely to have a clear out in the spring, South West BHF Shops and dedicated Furniture & Electrical Stores would like to encourage everyone having a clear out to think about donating their unwanted items. South West BHF Shops and Stores are always on the lookout for your lovely things such as clothes, books, CDs and DVDs, beds, sofas and electrical items.
Annita Riddle, BHF Regional Manager, comments, “Spring is the natural time to start thinking about having a clear out and getting rid of some of those unwanted items.
“We would like to encourage everybody in the South West to start thinking about having a spring clear out, if you haven’t used something for over a year it’s time to give it up. Donations are the life blood of BHF Shops and last year raised £31 million in the fight against heart disease.”
