Since the launch of Dubdisk Records we have gone from strength and have worked with many local acts, some who got in touch purely on the item featured on this website so clearly it had a positive effect.
We now want to take the next step in growing the label and to cement ourselves into the UK record industry by producing vinyl for regular release. We want to put Swindon on the map as a serious place for creative music in competition with the Bristol and London scenes.
We have decided that the best way to achieve this is to crowdsource the funding via Kickstarter (a popular site to help projects like this to get off the ground). For everyone who helps we will send a signed, pre-release copy of the release as well as a personal thanks from the artists involved.
If we don’t reach the goal via Kickstarter we will have to either bump up prices for our music to fund a release (which could hurt sales) or hold investment on advertising until we can save the cash needed to do this on the label’s books. The only alternative is, of course, to give up which I don’t feel is an option. It’s a difficult transition to move into the vinyl market, we’re not far off but need this push to really get the ball rolling.
Your feedback needed
We will also be surveying what should be the first release and it would be great to get some feedback from the town as to what we should be selling.
