Lydiard Park is running some Easter-themed events to appeal to families during the holiday period.
The main event takes place on Easter Sunday, 31 March, with the Great Lydiard Park Easter Trail between 11am and 2.30pm. Children wishing to take part can collect a quiz sheet from the Education Room next to the Tea Rooms in the Coach House and Stable Buildings.
The trail will involve hunting for clues hidden around the lakes, woodlands and lawns of Swindon Borough Council’s historic park to solve the puzzle and be rewarded with a small prize. The cost is £2 per child and no booking is required, although children must be accompanied by an adult.
A fun and creative session will be held on Tuesday, 2 April to make and decorate a bird feeder filled with seeds to hang up in your garden or bird table. This session takes place in the Education Room in the Coach House next to the Tea Rooms. No booking is required and children can drop in between 12noon and 3pm. The cost is £3 per child and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cllr Garry Perkins, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Culture, said: “Easter is a great time for families to spend together. Our Easter Sunday trail is always popular, offering adults a leisurely walk around the grounds while the children have the added fun of hunting for eggs to solve the puzzle, with the bonus of a small prize.
“The play area is open daily and it’s a lovely time of year to enjoy walks, bike rides and games. The spring flowering bulbs, including stunning tulips, hyacinths and daffodils, are starting to bloom in our Georgian Walled Garden so don’t miss the chance to see the garden at this beautiful time of year.”
The grounds of Lydiard Park are open daily and entry is free. The State Rooms of Lydiard House and the Georgian Walled Garden are open Tuesday to Sunday and on Bank Holiday Monday. Admission charges apply.
The Café and Coach House Tea Rooms will also be open through the busy Easter holiday period. For more information on events, opening times and prices, please call Lydiard House on 01793 770401 or click on the website on www.lydiardpark.org.uk
