The Estelle School of Dance perform a show at the Wyvern Theatre every two years for charity – they are the only dance school in Swindon to do this . This year’s show was The Wizard of Oz in aid of Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool.
Pupils from the age of 2 upwards appeared in the show and have all worked hard fundraising over the last two years, from individual events, such as sponsored swims and walks, to in-house events like coffee mornings, raffles, dress down days, discos, and quiz nights. They also held events involving the wider community such as Bag Packing in Tesco and Sainsbury’s (on 2 very cold bank holiday Mondays) raising over £800.00 on each occasion, Cash for clothes, and a great Garden Fete – not forgetting all the hard work rehearsing for the four fantastic performances of The Wizard of Oz in June this year . In all they managed to raise the magnificent sum of £5,000.
Neil Montgomery The Manager of theThamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool said "The Estelle School of dance have done a fantastic job of fund raising, everyone’s efforts were astounding and we at the pool really appreciate it".
They truly deserve to have their hard work, dedication, and commitment recognised but equally, we would like to thank the wider community for all their support in helping with or attending the different events – and to show them that their efforts really did make a difference, from the individuals, to the local firms and companies who have sponsored us – or donated raffle/auction prizes or lent us their swimming pools/venues free of charge to do our events/sponsored swims. We thank them all for their generosity – in the hope that they will help/ support us again in the future – as we have already started to fund raise for the next show/charity in 2014!.
