Teenager Charlotte from West Swindon and a friend were subject to a totally unprovoked attack by two other young women close to the fair next to the Link Centre in September.
She was bruised, her friend had to be treated in casualty at Great Western Hospital, but they didn’t report the incident to the police for fear of reprisals.
However she has focussed part of an urban landscape A Level photography module at New College on exploring her fears and anxieties of being on her own in public places.
She writes: ‘I have used the experience to convey my feelings visually. I get uncomfortable being on my own when travelling or in empty and abandoned places. Even when you’re surrounded by people that you have no connection with, I sometimes get the sense of being vulnerable that they could pose a threat.’
