THERE have been many comments on the Fast Draft System this year, some saying it has worked and others saying no.
I am one of those people who say yes, it has worked brilliantly, especially for the Robins this year, so here are my two reasons/people why I say yes.
Brother of the Belle Vue star Richie Worrall, he’s arguably one of the most consistent riders. When other riders aren’t doing so well you can always rely on young Steve to be there, nearly top scoring for us.
I think he doesn’t get the praise he deserves he’s been fabulous, in a league of his own, we all saw on Monday how Stevie on a fair track tore one of the other top draft stars Jason Garrity.
He can be taken for granted by many . He’s gutsy, his attitude is in the right area, his head’s level and he never gives up. He is always a busy man up and down the country. He won’t be a reserve next year.
In for Dan Greenwood who was dropped earlier this year. Dan himself was a replacement for young Darryl Ritchings who I wish good luck to I’m his forthcoming cycle ride.
Anyway back to Nathan , he’s at the tender age of 16 . He’s managed/been managed by the best in the business – Sam Ermelenko , Phil Morris and Alun Rossiter to name a few .
Let me take you back to the Sky meeting verses Belle Vue (I think) it was heat two and Nathan came out on Simon’s bike and oh my what happened. The atmosphere, you could feel the crowd pulling him along. Everyone was beaming with joy as Nathan crossed the finish line and punched the air, it felt unbelievable for me, being someone the same age as him.
I had the honour of meeting Nathan away at Leicester, he jumped at the chance to have a photo, he gave me a good chat and a laugh and scored six points, helping us get the win. He might not always score points but he gives it a real go and loves riding for Swindon and that’s what I like to see .
One interesting fact is, if Swindon lift the Elite League title, Nathan will be the youngest person to have an Elite league winners medal.
Would we have made the okay offs without these two, who knows , but I think I speak on behalf of all the Swindon fans when I say Steve and Nathan you’ve done us all proud, big futures the pair of you.
Thank you to Andy Warren and co for giving me the chance to express my view.
