AT THE beginning of the season I was unsure of how the fast track reserves would work, if they would be out of their depth or would it help them improve, the point of putting them into this league.
Well I think at the end of the year I’m still unsure as to if it has worked, some, and Steve is a really good example, have hit the ground running and are consistently scoring into double figures, whilst others haven’t fared quite so well.
Nathan sadly falls into the latter, and I have nothing but admiration for him as he quite obviously is trying but struggling to score points, and I think he is as upset with himself as he thinks the stands are.
Well from this side of the fence we really appreciate someone who tries, and on the whole the Swindon terraces have taken to him, and what a reaction when he scored his first reasonable points haul. Head up, riding seems more relaxed and much more stylish and I am confident he will become an asset for whichever club he settles with, provided his confidence hasn’t taken too much of a knock.
I expect that there will be changes in the close season, some of them will be positive and many will not be as constructive, but whatever we need to promote our sport, to encourage new faces through the turnstyles, and another play-off success could do nothing to harm that here at the Abbey, or wherever we are next year.
Good luck in the playoffs, and come on you Robins!
