Roves Farm Visitor Centre
Swindon SN6 7QG
Roves Farm Visitor Centre is offering all dads a free day out at the farm when accompanied by a paying child on Fathers Day – June 19! To celebrate the occasion, Roves Farm is having a special day of Welly-Wanging, and is calling all dads to show us how it is done! All you have to do is throw a Wellington Boot as far as you can. Last year the Golden Welly Trophy was awarded to the winning throw of 35 metres! All donations received on the day will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Additionally Roves Farm is holding Bug Weekends every Sunday until July 17. The countryside may look very calm and peaceful, especially in the summer, but if you look more closely it is teeming with mini beasts everywhere. There is a large range of habitats, all linked by a network of “wildlife corridors” such as hedgerows, woodlands, streams, ponds, unmown grasses and wild flowers, which are a feast for insects especially butterflies and small mammals. These, in turn, are good breakfasts for the many species of birds which live in the locality.
Free Tractor Rides go past an array of these habitats whilst stopping off for a spot of bug hunting! You will be amazed how many weird and wonderful creepy crawlies live around the farm!
Craft sessions offer children the opportunity to snip, stick and decorate their very bugs to take home.
A full programme of events include: Meet and Feed a wide range of farm animals, Pets Corner, Animal Racing, Free Tractor and Trailer Rides, Children’s Craft, Indoor and Outdoor Adventure Play Areas and lots more! Roves Farm has plenty of indoor eating and activity areas, most of which are heated on chilly days. It is an ideal venue on wet days – we’ve got it covered!
Roves Farm Visitor Centre is open daily, 10:30am-5:00pm. For more information please visit www.rovesfarm.co.uk or telephone 01793 763939.
