Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has joined the growing ranks of organisations using Twitter to communicate with the public. The Trust is inviting local people to ‘follow’ the latest news and information about the hospital by interacting with them using the popular social networking site.
Kevin McNamara, Head of Marketing and Communications said: “We are always looking for new ways to communicate with our patients, the public and our members and Twitter is an easy way to do this. More and more people are using this kind of new technology to find out about things that are important to them and we are keen for anyone interested in the work of the hospital to follow us on Twitter.”
Twitter is just one of the ways people can stay informed about the Trust and it will be regularly updated to include the latest news about new developments at the hospital, events and other useful health information. The Trust will also be using Twitter to share important information with the public at times when messages need to be shared quickly such as during periods of bad winter weather.
Kevin McNamara goes on to explain: “The good news is it’s accessible on the internet through your computer or through your internet enabled phone, so staying in touch has never been easier.”
