West Ham United Football Club welcomed greeting card competition winners Carmelo Galati and Hollie Woodham from Swindon College School of Art last week.
The duo were presented with signed shirts, goodie bags and the chance for their winning cards to be sold at the Mega store. The competition and collaboration was organised by local Graphic Design team, Outright Communication.
Carmelo 20, is a second year design student and took first and third place, whilst Hollie19 came second. Carmelo was thrilled to have the opportunity for his winning design to be published which featured a Christmas snowy goal and said: “Its great as a student to get live projects and good to see our work get out there”.
Eamon McDaid, Head of West Ham United retail added: “I was absolutely delighted with the degree of design detail on all the cards it showed clearly that the students not only understood the design brief but followed it through to completion. I would like to congratulate and thank Carmelo and Hollie on their excellent designs. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Polly from Outright and Swindon College School of Art for organizing the competition and I look forward to working with them again.”
Polly Halpin from Outright said, “The standard of work from all entrants was very high. It’s a great opportunity and highly motivating for design students to see their work published and in-store. This was echoed by Greg Rendell, department head of Swindon who said: "It’s an excellent result. This project has allowed the students to focus on how design agencies and clients work together. It has been an excellent opportunity to display the talents of our students."
All profits from the sale of the student cards will be donated to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
