In conjunction with Asda, the West Swindon Family Centre will be holding an information session at West Swindon District Centre on Wednesday 31st October, 10am to 2pm.
Advice Point Service Advisor Richard Stacey will be on hand to offer free welfare and benefits advice to shoppers whilst family centre staff will have an information stand with details of all the free services that families with new borns to 11 year olds can access.
Halloween face painting, biscuit decorating activities and a colouring competition will be on offer for the children and we will be giving away goody bags with lots of information about our local services.
Jan Kilby, Community Life Co-ordinator for Asda said: “It’s a great opportunity for local families to find out more about the free services that are accessible to them.”
Julie Batson, Family Centre Manager added: “Our free Advice Point Service has proved invaluable to our families and in the past year our advisors have retrieved £349,173 in unclaimed benefits and written off £19,501 in debt for our community.”
The West Swindon Family Centre provides free services and support for families with children aged from birth to 11 years old, which includes one to one support, group activities (including Dad’s group), parenting courses, family support and volunteering opportunities.
Based in Gainsborough Way, Freshbrook, the Family Centre also has an unique Welfare advice service called Advice Point for families with 0 to19 year olds where people can just drop in on Wednesdays make an appointment to access free welfare advice from our qualified Advice Point Team.
