People living in a part of West Swindon are objecting to a proposal to erect a 15 metre high mobile phone mast overlooking their homes on Whitehill Way.
Mother of two Willania Leitao from Wentworth Park, Freshbrook, just yards from the location of the large Vodaphone mast, “I have a two year old and a seven year old and I’m very worried about the health concerns – not just of my children, but everyone in the area. The long term exposure of continuous radiation emissions can lower the immune system, cause sleep disorders, migraines and other problems, even cancer.”
The mast would be situated on the north side of Whitehill Way, next to Holbien Walk. Willania, “the mast will be right in the heart of residential properties. We found out about this only a week ago; some people got letters, some didn’t and we have to submit our objections to the council by 1 April.
"Everybody’s up in arms about it and we’re organising petitions and discussions with Swindon Borough councillors. If you’d like to find out more or submit your objections go the website: http://westswindon.webs.com , which also includes links explaining the health issues. There’s not much time and we need all the support we can get.”
