The Seven Fields Conservation Group is hosting a meeting at St Johns Church, Thames Avenue on Thursday 7 April, 7pm, to set up a ‘Friends’ of Seven Fields Open Space between Penhill and Abbey Meads.
The aim is to find people interested in championing a formal park, a play park, dog walking area and any other uses that might be needed, as well as volunteers to be involved in wildlife habitat improvement.
Eventually, with government and Swindon Council permission, the conservation group hopes to take on management responsibility for the open space
Seven Fields Conservation Group is made up of people from all the surrounding areas and gained Local Reserve Designation for the area in 1995. Volunteers have built bridges over streams, put up signposts, improved pathways and planted trees.
