Having suffered a heart attack in 2010 Linda Scarrott, 56, knew she needed to do something about her health and fitness. But after failing to find a comfortable gym environment to get the exercise that her doctor ordered, she decided to open one herself – and SwanS health and beauty centre was born.
Based at Avebury House on Stonehill Green in Westlea, SwanS offers a ladies-only workout space, with top of the range hydraulic equipment from Technogym, supplier to Team GB, as well as qualified female instructors to guide you through the circuit.
Explaining the SwanS concept, Linda said: “When I was looking for a gym to join I was put off by the rows and rows of treadmills you get in some places. They felt very intimidating and I felt that I would be more comfortable exercising in a female environment.
“I want this to be a one-stop shop for ladies’ health, fitness and beauty needs. As well as our gym space we also offer beauty treatments and holistic therapy. Exercise classes include aerobics, salsacise, Fit2Box and body sculpting; we can also provide personal training to our members.”
To help customers make the most of their exercise sessions, SwanS are also launching weight management classes.
SwanS also runs monthly social events in the evening with profits donated to The British Heart Foundation and Breast Cancer Awareness.
SwanS is offering a 30 minute personal training session for newcomers. Call Linda on 01793 847249 for more details.
