Moonwalk transport offer
Swindon Twin Peaks Walking Group is organising coach transport for the Playtex London Moonwalk, departing from Swindon to Hyde Park, on Saturday 15 May, returning the next day.
Anyone participating as a walker, marshal or supporter is offered a place. For details of cost mail: firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Walking the Ridgeway
Rotary Club of Swindon Thamesdown provides the opportunity for organisations to raise money on The Walkley Midnight Walk, a 20 mile night hike along the Ridgeway, without any kind of entry fee.
The event starts at 11pm on 12 June at the Red Lion Pub in Avebury after a courtesy coach transfer from the finish point at Bishopstone village hall at 9.30pm, where cars can be parked free of charge overnight.
Early on Sunday morning The Royal Oak in Bishopstone will serve a hearty breakfast to tired walkers at only £5.
Since Walkley Midnight Walks started over twenty years ago, £180,000 has been raised for local, national and international charities.
Route marshalls, first aiders and free snacks with hot and cold drinks are provided. Register your group at www.rotaryclubofswindonthamesdown.org.uk or contact Bob Barrett: email@example.com or 07833 972281.
Women’s walk for Prospect
Prospect Hospice is looking for women to sign up for its flagship fundraising event, the Starlight Walk around Swindon, on 26 June.
Now in its third year, the Starlight Walk last year raised £65,000 for Prospect, and has previously brought together more than 600 women, many taking part in memory of loved ones. This year – Prospect’s thirtieth – organisers are hoping over 1,000 walkers will take part in either 10k or 15k distances.
It’s been described as a mixture of a girls’ night out, a physical challenge and, for some, a time for reflection. But Prospect is also keen for men to support the event as volunteer marshals along the route.
Register at www.prospect-hospice.net/starlight or call 815142. Book before the end of April and registration costs just £12.
