Friday 15 & Saturday 16 August 10am – 2pm
The Swindon Museum & Art Gallery will be celebrating all things Roman for a weekend in August as they display their amazing collection of Roman brooches that were discovered in Wanborough in 1989 and hold Roman workshops for Children.
The Museum & Art Gallery received over £80,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards an exciting project, Hidden Potential, that helps them understand, care and share Swindon’s Stored Collection. The project is now underway and they have already started to rediscover their collection and the display of the Roman Brooches will be the first of many things they will be exhibiting.
On Friday 15 and Saturday 16 August 2014, they are holding their Really Roman creative workshops with two drop in crafts activities which cost just £2 a child!
On the Friday, you can make a laurel leaf head-dress or a mosaic coaster. On Saturday you can choose between a Roman badge or a book mark. The sessions will be running between 10am and 2pm each day and all materials will be provided.
For further information on the workshops please call the Museum on 01793 466556 during opening hours, Wednesday – Saturday 11am- 3pm.
The Museum opens at 10am during school holidays.
